Ibrahim Negib (? – ?) is believed to possibly have been born in Egypt but this has not been fully confirmed, nor has a birthdate. All that is known about his life is that he was a member of the Khartoum Police Force with the rank of Sol during the 1924 disturbances which broke out in the Sudanese capital.
George Cross
On the 27th-28th November 1924, two platoons of the 11th Sudanese Regiment ran amok. Three British officers and two Syrian medical officers were killed by the mutineers and nine other ranks were wounded. Negib was recommended for great gallantry in the disturbances alongside two fellow Police Officers in Muhammad Abdulla Muhammad and Taha El Jak Effendi. All three men were awarded the Empire Gallantry Medal on 12th December 1924. The EGMs were later exchanged following the creation of the George Cross in September 1940.
Sadly, nothing more is known about Ibrahim Negib GC including where and when he died. The location of his medal is also unknown.
