George Hindley AM

George was born in 1870, the eldest of seven children born to John and Frances Hindley. After basic schooling, George was apprenticed to a blacksmith. His trade as a blacksmith gained him employment in the mines, especially at Clifton Hall Colliery. He married Perdora, and they had eight children. In later life, the family lived in Bollington, near Macclesfield, where George’s new occupation was a mangler.
