Albert C Shearing AM

Albert wass born in Great Ormsby, Norfolk and appears to have first gone to sea as a Deck Boy in 1934. He then served right through the Second World War, when he was discharged with a disability pension, due to the incident on the SS Caspia. He received his AM from King George VI on 31st October 1944 at Buckingham Palace. After the war he lived at 65 Victoria Street in Southwold, where he died aged just 34 on 31st May 1950. It appears that his medals were kept by his widow, who hailed from the Middle East, and she took them abroad after his death.
