Arthur Frankland EM

Arthur was born 18 August 1888 at Clitheroe to John Frankland a tailor and insurance agent and Mary Jane Tattersall of Colne. They were married 1869 at St James Clitheroe and Arthur was baptized 10 October 1888 at St Mary Magdalene Clitheroe. Arthur married Sarah Elizabeth Goom at United Reformed Church Burnley in 1940. The had no children. He died 22 January 1968 age 79, living then at 24 Buckshaw Terrace, Whalley road Simonstone.

 

EM CITATION:

His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to award the Edward Medal of the first class to James Burt and Arthur Frankland, also the Edward Medal of the second class to Duncan McPolland on account of their gallant conduct on the occasion of an explosion which occurred at the works of the Nobel Explosive Co., Ardeer, on the 30th July, 1915.
