Very little is known about the life of coal miner Morgan Howells, other than his actions at the Seven Sisters Colliery in Neath, South Wales on 3rd March 1908.

 

EM CITATION:

On 3rd March, 1908, an explosion took place at the Neath Colliery, by which five men were killed and others injured. Morgan Howells and a boy, whose lamps were extinguished, began to make their way out, but the boy became almost insensible and was dragged and carried by Howells 500 yards to a place of safety.
