Very little is known about mining deputy James Taylor, who worked at the Ladysmith Pit, and was part of the rescue teams that were awarded the Edward Medal for their actions on 11th May 1910.

 

EM CITATION:

In addition to the names which appeared in the London Gazette of the 22nd July, The King has been pleased to award the Edward Medal of the Second Class for gallant conduct in connection with the Whitehaven Colliery disaster to— William James Mullholland, Hewer, Wellington Pit. Joseph Lucas, Hewer, William Pit. James Taylor, Deputy, Ladysmith Pit.
