Edward G Allen MOH

b. 04/12/1859 Amsterdam, Netherlands. d. 16/04/1917 New York.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 13, 20-22/06/1900 China.

Allen was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and after entering the navy Allen was sent to China to fight in the Boxer Rebellion. He served in the United States Navy during the China Relief Expedition during the Boxer Rebellion as a Boatswain’s Mate First Class. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery on June 13, 20, 21, and 22, 1900. His citation reads “Fighting with the relief expedition of the Allied forces, Allen distinguished himself by meritorious conduct”. His Medal was awarded to him on July 19, 1901.
