DATE OF MOH ACTION: 19/05/1863 Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Civil War Congressinal Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a First Sergeant in Company A, 47th Ohio Infantry for action on May 19, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. His citation reads “Voluntarily carried a verbal message from Col. A.C. Parry to Gen. Hugh Ewing through a terrific fire and in the plain view of the enemy.” He didnt receive his Medal until 24 August 1896, 33 years after the Battle of Vicksburg.
