Howard Major Buckley MOH

b. 23/01/1863 Croton Falls, New York. d. 02/07/1941 Bath, New York.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 25, 27 and 29/03 and 04/04/1899 Philippines.

Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the United States Marine Corps during the United States’ suppression of the insurrection of the Philippine Islands after the Spanish-American War, and was awarded the CMOH for his bravery there. His citation reads “For distinguished conduct in the presence of the enemy in battle, while with the 8th Army Corps on 25, 27, 29 March, and 4 April 1899.” He rose to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

For distinguished conduct in the presence of the Enemy in battle while with the Eighth Army Corps on 25, 27, March 29, and April 4, 1899.
