China Relief Expedition Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Chief Boatswain’s Mate on the USS Newark for action in China. His citation reads “In action with the relief expedition of the Allied forces in China, 13,20, 21, and 22 June 1900. During this period and in the presence of the enemy, Clancy distinquished himself by his conduct.”
