Charles D Copp MOH

American Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was issued the award on June 28, 1890 for his actions as a 2nd lieutenant with Company C, 9th New Hampshire Infantry, US Army, on December 13, 1862, at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia. By the end of the war, he had attained the rank of captain. He died at the age of 72. His Medal of Honor citation reads: “Seized the regimental colors, the color bearer having been shot down, and, waving them, rallied the regiment under a heavy fire.” He didnt receive his Medal until 28 June 1890, nearly 28 years after the Battle of Fredericksburg.
