Michael Corcoran MOH

b. 1848 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  d. 03/10/1919 Cleveland, Ohio.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 25/08/1869 Agua Fria River, Arizona.

Indian Wars Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he served as a Corporal in Company E, 8th U. S. Calvary. On August 25, 1869, Corporal Corocoran was one of three troopers on patrol out of Camp Whipple, Arizona Territory. Suddenly between the Aqua Fria and Rio Verde Rivers, Corporal Corocoran with his comrades engaged and repelled a band of hostile Indians. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded Medal of Honor on March 3, 1870. He died at age 72 in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2001, the American Legion through the Federal Government placed a Medal of Honor marker on his gravesite.
