James E Flynn MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Pittsfield, Illinois, he served as a Sergeant in Company G, 6th Missouri Infantry, US Army. On May 22, 1863, he was part of a volunteer storming party formed to lead an assault on the Confederate lines at Vicksburg, Mississippi. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on June 19, 1894.

“For gallantry in the charge of the volunteer storming party on 22 May 1863.”
