Joseph L Follett MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant in Company G, 1st Missouri Light Artillery for action on March 3 and December 31, 1862 at New Madrid, Missouri and Stone River, Tennessee. His citation reads “At New Madrid, MO., remained on duty though severely wounded. While procuring ammunition from the supply train at Stone River, Tenn., Follett was captured, but made his escape, secured the ammunition, and in less than an hour from the time of his capture had the batteries supplied.” He received his Medal of Honor on 19 September 1890.

 

MOH CITATION:

At New Madrid, Mo., remained on duty though severely wounded. While procuring ammunition from the supply train at Stone River, Tenn., was captured, but made his escape, secured the ammunition, and in less than an hour from the time of his capture had the batteries supplied.
