Franz Frey MOH
Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Switzerland, he immigrated to the United States, and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. He served during the Civil War as a Corporal, Company H, 37th Ohio Infantry, and participated in the campaign to capture Vicksburg, Mississippi in May 1863. He was one of 150 volunteers who stormed the Confederate north of the city. He was awarded the Medal of Honor on August 14, 1894 for gallantry during an assault.

For gallantry in the charge of the volunteer storming party on 22 May 1863.
