Patrick Graham (1837-1875) sadly is a recipient of whom very little is known. He was born in 1837 in St Michael’s, Dublin, Ireland. He enlisted with the 90th Regiment of Foot (later Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)), and was heavily involved in the Indian Mutiny, and in particular with the storming of Lucknow.

He was elected for the VC by his fellow soldiers of the 90th when he ran out under very heavy fire on the 17th November 1857 to rescue a wounded officer. This occurred during the attack on the Mess House and Moti Mahul Palace during the day. He was the third man of the 90th to receive the VC that day.
Following the Mutiny, he then returned to Ireland, where little more is known, until he died on 3rd June 1875, aged just 37 in South Dublin. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Arbour Hill Cemetery in Dublin and sadly due to the destroying of the cemetery records, it will be difficult to pinpoint his exact grave. His medal is held by the Cameronians Regimental Museum, Hamilton, Scotland.
