Alonzo H Pickle MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company B, 1st Battalion, Minnesota Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on August 14, 1864 at Deep Bottom, Virginia. He did not receive his Medal until June 12, 1895. Pickle married and had four children living the majority of his life in Minnesota, having arrived there at the age of 14.

 

MOH CITATION:

At the risk of his life, voluntarily went to the assistance of a wounded officer lying close to the enemy’s lines and, under fire, carried him to a place of safety.
