DATE OF MOH ACTION: 17/06/1864 Petersburg, Virginia.
Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He enlisted in the 3rd Maryland (US) Volunteer Infantry on August 15, 1861, and was mustered in as 1st Sergeant of Company A. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Petersburg, Virginia on June 17, 1864. Sergeant Strausbaugh was wounded in action, and died in the General Military Hospital in Beverly, New Jersey. His Medal was posthumously awarded to him on December 1, 1864, less than a month after his death.
