Very little is known of the life of Charles Kelley who was a Private in G Company, of the 1st US Cavalry, during the Indian Campaigns. He received his Medal on February 14, 1870 for his actions the previous October in the Chiricahua Mountains in Arizona. After the award of his medal, he disappeared into history.
