Mexican Campaign Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in New York City, he served as a Ordinary Seaman, US Navy. While on board the U.S.S. Florida, Seaman Nordsiek showed extraordinary heroism during the siege at Vera Cruz, Mexico, April 21 to 22, 1914. He received his Medal on January 6, 1915 on the deck of USS Florida at the Brooklyn Navy Yard from Secretary of the Navy, Josephus Daniels.
