Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company C, 37th Ohio Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 22, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. He did not receive the Medal until July 10, 1894.
