Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in 1841, at Fairfield County, Ohio, he served as a Private in Company F, 3rd Cavalry, US Army. On May 5, 1871, during a battle with hostile Indian forces, Private Miller was one of five soldiers who displayed courage while on a forward patrol in the Whetstone Mountains of Arizona. For gallantry in action, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on November 13, 1871.
