Indian Wars Medal of Honor recipient. Served as a Corporal, in Company H, 6th U.S. Cavalry. While carrying dispatches September 9 to 11, 1874, he and a comrade were attacked by 125 hostile Indians, who they fought off single-handedly near upper Wichita River, Texas. His Medal was issued on April 23, 1875.
