Elisha J Johns MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor recipient. He entered the Union Army at Martinton, Iroquois County, Illinois and served as a Corporal in Company B, 113th Illinois Infantry. As a member of the Volunteer Storming Party, on May 22, 1863 at the Battle of Vicksburg, Mississippi, he showed gallantry in the charge and assault against the Confederate garrison. He did not receive his Medal until August 9, 1894.
