Eugene M Tinkham MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Corporal in Company H, 148th New York Infantry for action on June 3, 1864 at Cold Harbor, Virginia. He did not receive the Medal until April 5, 1898.

 

MOH CITATION:

Though himself wounded, voluntarily left the rifle pits, crept out between the lines and, exposed to the severe fire of the enemy’s guns at close-range, brought within the lines two wounded and helpless comrades.

 

BURIAL LOCATION: NEW HANOVER CEMETERY, HANOVER, CONNECTICUT.
