Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army for the 1st Maryland Infantry.He attained the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Dabney’s Mills, Virginia on February 6, 1865. He did not receive the Medal until August 13, 1895.
MOH CITATION:
Voluntarily remained with the body of his regimental commander under a heavy fire after the brigade had retired, and brought the body off the field.
