Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. A native of Mayfield, Wisconsin, Hill was awarded his MOH for service at Date Creek, Arizona as a Sergeant with Company E, 5th United States Cavalry on September 8, 1872. He received his Medal on August 12, 1875.
MOH CITATION:
Secured the person of a hostile Apache chief, although while holding the chief he was severely wounded in the back by another Indian.
