Frank Miller MOH

b. 28/12/1849 New York. d. 12/09/1903 San Francisco, California.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 06/04/1865 Deatonsville (Sailors Creek), Virginia.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the Union Army at Jamaica, New York and served as a Private with Company M, 2nd New York Cavalry. His Medal of Honor action occurred on April 6, 1865 at Sailors Creek, Virginia. His citation reads “Capture of flag of 25th Battalion Virginia Infantry (C.S.A.); was taken prisoner, but successfully retained his trophy until recaptured.” He was cremated as the now-defunct Odd Fellows Cemetery in San Francisco, California, and his ashes were buried in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, where they were interred on September 21, 1903.
