b. 1843 Benton, Maine. d. 09/10/1903 Kalispell, Montana.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 01/06/1862 Fair Oaks, Virginia.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant Major in the Union Army in the 3d Maine Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on June 1, 1862 at Fair Oaks, Virginia. His citation reads “Assumed command of a portion of the left wing of his regiment, all the company officers present having been killed or disabled, led it gallantly across a stream and contributed most effectively to the success of the action.” Promoted 21 Jul 1862 to 1LT & Adjutant of the 19th Maine Infantry. The Medal of Honor was issued to Haskell on December 8, 1898.
