Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company A, 122d Ohio Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on April 2, 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. His citation reads “Capture of division flag of Maj. Gen. Henry Heth, (C.S.A.).” He did not receive his Medal until April 16, 1891.
