George E Ranney MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served as Assistant Surgeon, 2d Michigan Cavalry. On May 14, 1864, in the battle at Resaca, Georgia, Surgeon Ranney observed a soldier wounded between there lines. Going to his aid, under heavy fire and with the help of an orderly, he carried the injured soldier to the safety of there own lines. Surgeon Ranney received his Medal of Honor on April 24, 1901 and it was accredited to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

 

MOH CITATION:

At great personal risk, went to the aid of a wounded soldier, Pvt. Charles W. Baker, lying under heavy fire between the lines and with the aid of an orderly, carried him to a place of safety.
