DATE OF MOH ACTION: 02/1867 Dakota Territory.

Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the Wars with the Plains Indians as a Sergeant in Company F, 18th United States Infantry. He was awared the CMOH for his bravery in a journey between Fort Phil Kearny to Fort C. F. Smith, Dakota Territory in February 1867. His citation reads “Bravery, energy, and perseverance, involving much suffering and privation through attacks by hostile Indians, deep snows, etc., while voluntarily carrying dispatches”. His Medal was awarded to him on May 9, 1871.
