Graham S Horn CGC

Little is known about Graham Horn prior to the award of the CGC. He was educated at King Edward VII School in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he graduated in the class of 2002. He and his two elder brothers, Bradley and Richard, all enlisted in the Parachute Regiment following the end of their academic studies. Following the basic training, Graham was awarded his wings in 2005. Graham has seen active service in Northern Ireland, and several tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. It was during one of these tours of Afghanistan where he carried out a courageous individual act whilst under heavy enemy fire which resulted in this very special award.

His award of the CGC was gazetted in the London Gazette on 24 September 2010, and on 12 October 2011, he was presented with his medal at Buckingham Palace by Queen Elizabeth II. The month prior to his investiture, he participated in a re-enactment of Operation Market Garden which took place during WWII where 10000 airborne troops parachuted in Arnhem to save the bridge. The irony of this was not lost on Graham where he mixed with German paras, jumped from a German airforce aircraft using a German parachute!

Graham continued in the military following his award, and was based at St Athan Military Complex in South Wales.
