Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was awarded the Medal of Honor under an alias, Harry Kline. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company E, 40th New York Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 6, 1865 at Deatonsville (Sailor’s Creek), Virginia. His citation reads “Capture of battle flag.” He was buried under the name Henry Klein.
