Henry Romeyn MOH

Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He was serving as a First Lieutenant in the 5th U.S. Infantry, at Bear Paw Mountain, Montana, on September 30, 1877, when he earned his Medal. His Medal was awarded November 27, 1894. It was from his recommendation that reported Sergeant Henry Hogan had assembled the party that “carried me off the field” and “whose action probably enabled me to live” that resulted in Hogan receiving a second Indian Wars CMOH. Counting the two Medals Romeyn and Hogan earned, there were nine Medals of Honor earned at Bear Paw Mountain.

 

MOH CITATION:

Led his command into close-range of the enemy, there maintained his position, and vigorously prosecuted the fight until he was severely wounded.
