Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Corporal in Company M, 2d New York Cavalry for action on April 6, 1865 at Deatonsville (Sailor’s Creek), Virginia. His citation reads “Capture of Virginia state colors.” He received the Medal on May 3, 1865.
