James Flannigan MOH

b. 1833 Ireland. d. 04/10/1905 New York.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 15/02/1863 Nolensville, Tennessee.

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Private in Company H, 2d Minnesota Infantry for action on February 15, 1863 at Nolensville, Tennessee. He did not receive the Medal until 11 September 1897.

 

MOH CITATION:

“Was one of a detachment of 16 men who heroically defended a wagon train against the attack of 124 cavalry, repulsed the attack, and saved the train.”
