b. 1846 Oakland County, Michigan. d. 26/07/1864 Memphis, Tennessee.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 27/01/1864 Brownsville Station, Arkansas.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He enlisted in the Union Army at the age of 18, and was mustered in as a Private in Company B, 3rd Michigan Volunteer Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery in action on January 27, 1864 at Brownsville Station, Arkansas. His citation reads “Successfully defended himself, singlehandedly, against seven guerrillas, killing the leader (Capt. W.C. Stephenson) and driving off the remainder of the party.” He was awarded his Medal on April 4, 1864, and died of disease at Memphis, Tennessee three months later.
