James J Quinlan MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Major in the 88th New York Infantry, Union Army. On June 29, 1862, at the Battle of Savage Station, Virginia, he led his regiment on the Confederate battery, silenced the guns, held the position against overwhelming numbers and covered the retreat of the 2nd Army Corps. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 18, 1891.
