b. 1839 Canada. d. 11/01/1904 New Haven, Connecticut.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 25/03/1865 Petersburg, Virginia.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Private in Company L, 1st Connecticut Artillery for action on March 25, 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. He did not receive his Medal until October 29, 1886.

 

MOH CITATION:

A piece of artillery having been silenced by the enemy, this soldier voluntarily assisted in working the piece, conducting himself throughout the engagement in a gallant and fearless manner.
