John Baker MOH

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 1876-77 Cedar Creek, Montana.

Very little is known about John Baker, except he was a Musician in D Company, of the 5th Infantry during the Indian Wars. When the Medal was announced it was accredited to Brooklyn, New York, which indicates where John Baker was residing prior to his involvement in the 5th Infantry. He was presented with his Medal of Honor at a Parade at the Cantonment on the Yellowstone and Tongue Rivers, Montana Territory by General William T. Sherman on 18 July 1877.
