John H Havron MOH

b. 23/12/1843 Ireland. d. 28/10/1910 New Orleans, Louisiana.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 02/04/1865 Petersburg, Virginia.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the Union Army in Providence, Rhode Island and he served as a Sergeant in Company G, 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery. He was awarded the CMOH for action on April 2, 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. His citation reads “Was one of a detachment of 20 picked artillerymen who voluntarily accompanied an infantry assaulting party and who turned upon the enemy the guns captured in the assault.” He received his Medal on June 16, 1866.
