DATE OF MOH ACTION: 03/07/1863 Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

John H. Robinson was born in Ireland and immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts.

Robinson enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a private in Company I, 19th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. His regiment was on the line during the Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. On the third day of the battle (July 3, 1863), his regiment repulsed elements of Pickett’s Charge.

Robinson received his Medal of Honor on December 1, 1864.

John H. Robinson died in Boston on November 30, 1883 and was buried in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
