John Kane MOH

b. 1834 Ireland. d. 08/05/1881 Clyde, New York.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 02/04/1865 Petersburg, Virginia.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the Union Army at Marilla, Erie County, New York. He served as a Sergeant. He was awarded the CMOH as a Corporal in Company K, 100th New York Infantry for action on April 2, 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. His citation reads “Gallantry as color bearer in the assault on Fort Gregg.” He received his Medal on May 12, 1865.
