b. 1844 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. d. 19/12/1904 Indianapolis, Indiana.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 18/05/1864 Spotsylvania, Virginia.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He is buried under the name of John McKenzie. He served as a corporal in the Union Army in Company B, 45th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 18, 1864 at Spotsylvania, Virginia. His citation reads “Seized the colors, the color bearer having been shot, and with great gallantry succeeded in saving them from capture.” He was presented with his Medal on March 2, 1897.
