Joseph Robinson MOH

Joseph Robinson was born on October 12, 1847 in Ireland. He was married to Catherine Ignatia Robinson and they had at least one son, Joseph. First Sergeant Robinson served in Company D, 3rd US Cavalry Regiment.

On June 17, 1876 at Rosebud River, Montana, Robinson’s detachment was attacked by a group of hostile Indians. The detachment was able to withdraw under heavy fire. He was presented with his Medal of Honor on January 23, 1880.

 

MOH CITATION:

Discharged his duties while in charge of the skirmish line under fire with judgment and great coolness and brought up the lead horses at a critical moment.
