Little is known about Karl Hearne other than he was born in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire in 1968, and served as a Corporal in the Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan. He was awarded the CGC for his actions between 1 October 2001 and 31 March 2002, but his award was not gazetted until 24 March 2006.
