b. 1844 Lanbeck, Germany. d. 11/11/1920 Newport, Kentucky.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 1872 Arizona.

Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in Company L, 1st US Cavalry, Arizona Territory. In the winter of 1872, Sergeant Hinemann with twelve US Cavalry soldiers and ten Indian Scouts, guided Lieutenant Colonel George Crook’s column through hostile territory. For gallant conduct during the campaigns and engagements against Apache warriors, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on August 12, 1875.
