Lewis Locke MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was born as Louis Tacy. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company A, 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry under the alias of “Lewis Locke”. He entered the service at Jersey City, New Jersey. He was awarded the CMOH for action on April 5, 1865 at Paines Crossroads, Virginia. The medal was issued on May 3, 1865. His citation reads “Capture of a Confederate flag.” He received his Medal on May 3, 1865.
