Louis J Sacriste MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Brevet Major in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a First Lieutenant in Company D, 116th Pennsylvania Infantry for action on May 3 and October 14, 1863 at Chancellorsville and Auburn, Virginia. He was presented with the Medal on January 31, 1889.

 

MOH CITATION:

Saved from capture a gun of the 5th Maine Battery. Voluntarily carried orders which resulted in saving from destruction or capture the picket line of the 1st Division, 2d Army Corps.
